Tower of London

Far from being just one tower, the 900-year-old Tower of London is comprised of 18 acres of fortified turrets, ramparts and towers which must have one of the most colourful histories of any building in the world! In its lifetime, it has been a palace, a prison, a royal mint and even a zoo. It is famously home to the Crown Jewels, as well as a clan of ravens, and is guarded by the traditionally dressed Yeoman Warders, sometimes known as Beefeaters.
