Bafana Bafana Skipper In Hot Water
Bafana Bafana captain and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Steven Pienaar appeared in the Randburg Magistrate's Court in Johannesburg on Wednesday on charges of alleged assault.
The charges relate to an incident which took place last month involving Pienaar and Thabang Mnisi, the son of Public Service and Administration Deputy Minister Ayanda Dlodlo.
According to the Sowetan, Pienaar allegedly assaulted Mnisi by kicking and punching him during a drunken brawl outside a Sandton nightclub in June.
The former Ajax Cape Town star is being represented by lawyer Cliff Alexander and the duo were all smiles upon leaving court after the case was postponed until September 6 and Pienaar was slapped with a warning.
Pienaar denies all charges laid against him, telling the Sowetan through his lawyer: "I did not assault the complainant.
"I admit I was present at the club that night, but I did not assault anyone."
