Stormers Tick One Box As They Aim For Super Rugby Glory
The Stormers were crowned South African Conference champions for the second year running on Saturday after defeating the Cheetahs in their Super Rugby clash in Bloemfontein.
Both sides struggled in what were miserable conditions, with the Cape Town side edging their hosts 13-6.
Stormers winger Gio Aplon scored the only try of a game which was bereft of any real action and threatened to bore the small crowd to death before the freezing conditions were able to.
With the Bulls losing to the Sharks on Friday night in rather humiliating fashion, the Stormers needed just a win to ensure they finished top of the table heading into the last round of group matches this coming weekend.
The Stormers still have hopes of topping the overall Super Rugby log, but they will need a favour from the Hurricanes against the Chiefs while ensuring they do the business against the Melbourne Rebels in Cape Town.
