It's thanks to one-time England manager and Liverpool golden child Kevin Keegan's curly perm that the birthplace of The Beatles has found itself more associated with curly wigs and shellsuits than it is with the fab four. "The Keegan perm", as the Newcastle-born footballer's tight curls became known, spawned millions of imitators in Britain and Europe throughout the 70s and 80s.
