R18 million - The value of an ivory and rhino horn shipment seized in Hong Kong
A shipping container that came from Cape Town to Hong Kong was discovered to contain 33 rhino horns, 758 ivory chopsticks and 127 ivory bracelets. The cargo manifest claimed the container housed scrap plastic, but after a search the hidden items were discovered. This is one of the largest seizures of endangered species products by Hong Kong Customs.
