0.9 grams per cm³ - Weight of the world's lightest material

The new material, a micro-lattice constructed out of tiny hollow metal tubes, is 100 lighter than Styrofoam. Developed by the University of California, HRL Laboratories and the California Institute of Technology, it has great heat-absorption features. Some possible applications are next-generation batteries and shock absorbers.
