R595 million - The latest Twilight movie's opening day earnings
Breaking Dawn Part 1, the latest film adaptation of the popular Twilight books, fell just short of setting a new franchise record, held by the previous film in this series, New Moon. But it still came out of the gates strongly and finished the weekend with $139.5 million in ticket sales - the second strongest first weekend in the franchise and fifth-strongest overall. The strongest opener and weekend records belong to Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2.
