R1.9 billion - Manchester City's annual loss, the biggest in English football history

The English premier league team posted the record-breaking £194 million loss after its 2010-2011 financial year, beating the previous record set by Chelsea in 2005 (£ 141 million/R1.4 billion). Last year the club reported a loss of £121 million (R1.2 billion). Man City says that revenues are much higher - but the single biggest cost factor remains paying the wages of their top players.
