A Cure For Infant HIV?
According to reports on Monday, a baby (not pictured) in Mississippi has been cured of HIV after being born with the virus. Read more about this pioneering medical breakthrough here…
The announcement was first made during the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections in Georgia, on Sunday. On Monday, the Guardian quoted Dr. Hannah Gay, who led the team responsible for the breakthrough, as saying that it should provide new options for doctors treating babies infected with HIV. HIV stands for Human immunodeficiency virus, and is the cause of AIDS.
