Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX20

Looking for a camera that laughs in the face of freezing, shock or a dunk underwater? The Cyber-shot DSC-TX20 (available in May) will survive drops of up to 1.5 metres, can withstand water up to five metres depth and - for good measure - won't seize up in temperatures plunging up to 10 degrees below zero. Worried about skimping on the tech? Don't worry, the Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 16.2MP lens can also shoot full-HD video, comes with 4x optical zoom and is accompanied by a three-inch touch LCD screen. Even better - it packs all this tech and ruggedness in a slimline body that weighs just 133g and wouldn't look out of place in more refined surroundings.
